Anniversaries have a way of making people reminisce. Maybe it makes you remember the way you used to look, or the way you used to act...for me it makes me think of how far we've come together. My husband and I celebrated our thirteenth anniversary yesterday. Lucky number 13!!! I'm not letting any superstitions get in our way. Although we've had our share of life changes in our 13 years of marriage; it has made our bond stronger.
I remember when we first started dating and the butterflies I would feel deep down inside when I saw him enter a room. As I was sitting across the dinner table last night I had those same butterflies. I was remembering our first date, our wedding, our honeymoon, our first house, the day we found out we were pregnant, and our three wonderful daughters. A lot has happened in our time together. I feel so honored he choose me. That feeling alone stirs up butterflies.
I love when you know someone so well that your eye contact alone can communicate what you want to say. Sometimes it is serious and other times it is laughter. Last night it was laughter for sure! We went to a restaurant that will certainly become one of our favorite places to visit (except we will request to sit in the downstairs room for sure). We were seated upstairs next to a table with two women. I would say they were in their late 30's or early 40's. I could hardly hear my husband talk because the one woman was talking so loudly. I didn't want to hear her conversation especially last night. I just looked across the table and we both smiled. It was a lost cause. This woman was not going to quiet down for anything! As soon as we got outside we both said how delicious the food was and then started laughing because of the loud talker! Oh well, there is always next time.
So many tangles in life are ultimately hopeless that we have no appropriate sword other than laughter. ~Gordon W. Allport
