Yesterday my daughter asked me if I was old? She knows what "number" I turned but I guess to a 4 year old it seems like Mommy is ancient!!! So, of course I laughed and said, "Mama doesn't feel old." Then I noticed she had this really serious look on her face. So, I asked her if there was something wrong. She said "Yes" and her little lip began to quiver. I hugged her tight. I had a feeling I knew what was wrong. She has been asking me lately about my Mom and Dad. She never got to meet either of them. We talk about them a lot, but to her they are a photograph. So, I asked her if she wanted to talk to me about anything. She just sweetly said, "please don't get sad." "I don't want you to get old and go to heaven." UGH!!! How does this child manage to tug at my heartstrings so much. I reassured her Mommy was going to be around for a long time.
This is such a hard topic to talk about especially with young children. My 7 year old doesn't ask as much anymore. She remembers both my Mom and Dad and we talk a lot about memories but she doesn't like to talk about them passing which is completely fine. I know my 4 year old is just curious and learning about the world around her.
With all this talk of course it has me thinking about my health etc. So, my husband and I have decided to train with the C25K program (couch to 5K). I am so EXCITED!!! I enjoy running anyway, but now we can motivate each other. We have signed up for a 5K race in early November. I will be running it even if my hand is still hurting. I am not allowing anything to interfere. To hear my little girl be scared that something is going to happen to me is enough motivation!
So, tonight we go and have a nice romantic, adult dinner and tomorrow after church and CCD I am taking my first training run! Has anyone else done this program? Any cons or pros we should be aware of? I would love to hear success stories. Hopefully, in a few weeks I will be writing my own. Have a blessed weekend everyone!
"Believe that you can run farther or faster. Believe that you are old enough, young enough, strong enough and so on to accomplish anything you want to do. Don't let worn out beliefs stop you from moving beyond yourself."
