I just love watching the sunset. Even though it is something that happens every single day it is unique each time. It reminds me that tomorrow is a new day. A new beginning, a time to refresh. I will never get tired of watching the sunset.
In my often busy, and chaotic life I need the reminder that the sun is going to set and rise again tomorrow. It's too easy to get caught up in school activities, extracurricular activities and even things as simple as laundry and housework. There is a pressure put on parents, especially stay at home parents that they should be able to get their "to-do" list done and then some. I think it's okay for us to just take a moment and catch our breath. Put our priorities in order. Figure out what absolutely needs to get done and what can maybe wait for another day.
I know I need to work on stopping more and just being. Being still...being quiet....feeling God's presence and his peace. I need to be there more for my family, my husband, my girlfriends...I need to toss a ball around with my girls or get on the floor and play barbies (for the 10th time) in a day. It doesn't matter what the activitity is that you are being called to. What matters is that you take a moment and let it happen.
This is something that I have been working very hard at lately. I want to go to bed each evening and not regret having missed something. You know what? Yes, that means my laundry has gotten a little heavier and there is a basket of clothes waiting to be folded. I'm okay with that. You know why? Because instead I got to spend some much needed quality time developig new friendships. I took my youngest to a playgroup with other children from her school. There were about five of us there. We talked while the kids ran around and it was exactly what I needed. Yes, I stayed a few minutes too long, but I am just fine with that. The best part is we are doing it again next week.
What are you stopping and making time for in your life?
The air up there in the clouds is very pure and fine, bracing and delicious. And why shouldn't it be? — it is the same the angels breathe.
