We survived the first week of school.  Even though it was only three days, it is always a challenge getting ourselves back into a routine, and me waking up at 5:45, so I can have my seven year old up at 6:00.  Her bus arrives at 6:45-6:50, YIKES!!!  Even though I wake her at 6:00, she usually sleeps until 6:10.  Then, it's morning routine time, which we need to tweek a bit.  Our two daughters, seven and four year old share a room.  They have bunk beds and it worked last school year, but so far this week we have had some issues.  Marianna gets up and as soon as Caroline hears her, she wakes up.  So, now I have two awake at 6:10.  Caroline has no reason to be awake other than she doesn't want to be left out.  So, we quietly tip toe downstairs, but we normally get about half way down and HELLO Sofia, my two year old awakens.  It is still dark out folks!!! Why, oh why are you awake?  I go in, sing to her, rub her back all in an effort to get her back to sleep.  If I am lucky she will sleep another half hour.

I wouldn't mind so much, but let me remind you they both have given up naps. Not my choice at all.  In fact, I still put both of them in their bedrooms for "quiet time" hoping that it will become a nap.  They REALLY need naps.  When they do not take naps, they become monsters around 3-4pm.  I don't like monsters, because then I become a cranky  monster Mom from all the whining and crying.  Knowing that it can all be eliminated if they would just nap!

So, Mom and Dad's out there, how do you get your little one's to nap when they are resistent?  Do you just forget about it and carry on?  If so, how do you deal with not getting ANY time to yourself all day long?

I am not looking for a long time, but I will be honest I use their quiet time to either work on my website, sew or crochet a project.  It's not like I am sleeping myself.  Even though some days I wish I was.  I know I chose to stay home, and this is not about my choice.  I love my kids, but I am human.  I need some time where I am not being tugged on or hearing whining, arguing etc.  Oh well, I know this too shall pass :-)

So, anyway...TGIF.  I think today we will be taking a car ride around with some classical music playing.  My little trick to get them to nap.  I need some peacefulness today :-)

This week's Fabulous Friday Find is an exercise app I love to use.  I know there are a zillion of them out there.  This one is called Cardiotrainer.  I use it on my android.  It is a great little app.  When you are beginning an exercise routine you start the app.  It will map out your route as you go, while calculating distance, calories burned and steps taken.  You can personalize the type of exercise too (biking, jogging, walking etc).  At the end of your workout it compares your workout to burning 4 avocados etc.  in addition to total calories, distance, steps etc.  It is a cute little perk.  It always makes me laugh because I don't think I ever ate 4 avocados in the same day!  Maybe, it should compare it to a cheeseburger haha!  I like it and use it whenever I exercise.  It keeps your total for the week and stores your history as well.  Check it out if you need an exercise app for your phone.

My neighbor and I have walked every day this week.  We are doing well.  Yesterday, we walked almost 5 miles.  It feels great amd I look forward to our walks each day.  Unfortunately, today is a rainy day so I'm not sure if we'll go.  Maybe, Mr. Sun will appear and we can sneak in a few miles :-)

Wishing you all a Happy and Fabulous Friday!

A day without a nap is like a cupcake without frosting.

Oh my, that is early. I know what you mean about getting on a schedule. We start on Monday, and it will take me awhile to get into the routine. Nice to meet you.

Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally.
