Please don't grow so fast

While each stage of parenthood has with it a level of excitement, I can't help but to be a little sad watching the girls grow.  Oh, and growing so fast they are!!!  When we came home from the pool today we had some much needed quiet and down time.  Mostly we were hoping Sofia would nap.  It never happened though.  Boy, does that little one have endless energy!  The girls had to choose between one hour of TV time or quiet play in their room.  Of course they chose TV, shocker right?  That is a new rule in our house.  One hour of TV daily.  I want them active and outside.  We are so blessed to live somewhere that the weather is beautiful all year.  Yes, it is hot in the summer, but we manage :-)  So, no reason to be inside when we can be out enjoying the fresh air.

I told the girls I had some work to do.  I was trying to type my blog and get our September calendar organized.  I am trying to not over schedule us especially during the week.  The girls will take gymnastics but it will be back to back classes on the same day.  Other than that, we are focusing on school, homework and quality family time.  We will bring back Friday nights as family movie night; Saturdays will be filled with bike rides, walks, weekend fun etc.  and of course watching some college football; Sundays are church, CCD and relaxing.  One of our favorite things to do is have friends over on Sundays.  While the adults are watching football the kids are all playing and having fun.

Anyway...as I was about to sit down to type my four year old wanted to snuggle.  At first, I thought "come on, please let Mama have ten minutes."  I definitely am a person and Mom that enjoys a little bit of time to myself.  Doesn't everyone need a few minutes to catch their breath?  Then, I thought what am I doing right now, that cannot wait?  I sat on the couch and we snuggled.  Too often we get caught up in something and we forget how quickly our children grow.  Soon my girls will not be asking for snuggles, it will be for a ride to the movies etc.  So, for now I will take all the snuggles I can get and I will savor each and every one.  I will have my "Mom" time when bed time rolls around :-)

Found you on Bloggy Moms...I love this! I did the same thing today. I am a very "scheduled" person and had many things on my to-do list, but when my little one (20 months old) wanted to snuggle ~ I dropped everything and put her on my lap! It lasted all day, in between bouts of ring-around-the-rosie and playing dress up... I LOVE the time she wants to spend with me. It is priceless. Thanks for sharing! :)

Thanks Kimberly,

You are so right...it is priceless. I need to be more aware of these times and also when they don't verbalize it but their behavior is telling me they need a snuggle. Thanks for leaving a comment. I appreciate you reading the blog!!!

Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally.
