What do you do to relax? Is relaxation even a word in your vocabulary since you've had children? I know what it is like to feel as if you will never relax again or at least until they all go to college!!! Do you use relaxation techniques or breathing exercises? I feel like there are different forms of relaxation. Some things like listening to music, meditating or watching the waves relaxes my mind, body AND soul. There are other activities like reading a book, enjoying a glass of wine, taking a walk, soaking in the bath, etc. etc. that also relax me but in a different sense. Right now, I am getting a pedicure while on vacation. This is WONDERFUL and quite a treat. This is pure relaxation for me today. I don't have to worry about the kids because they are with Grandmom. I don't have to worry about being back at a certain time. Wow, if I had a glass of wine, I may never leave this chair haha!!!
I love the feeling of being relaxed. Isn't it so nice when you feel calm and at peace? I am trying very hard to make that feeling a priority. There are days when I swear I can feel my heart beating out of my body. Those are moments I know my blood pressure is much higher than I want it to be. I will let something bother me and it gets me so darn worked up. That is a feeling I don't like. Why do we let the little things bother us so much? Sometimes I wish I was more of a "let it run off your shoulders" type of person.
It may sound strange but exercising is relaxing to me. Not so much while I am doing it, but nothing compares to how you feel when you've had an awesome workout. I miss that feeling and need to get back into my routine. My girls like to do yoga and I am so glad they have that outlet. They are too young to understand it's anything but fun, and that is alright.
Do you do any relaxation with your children? When my girls are upset we like to take deep breaths and count to ten. Sometimes it works, other times it is breathe and repeat, breathe and repeat!!! I think it is so important to help teach our children how to relax themselves. It comes in handy on times like immunizations at the docs or during a temper tantrum. My four year old gets herself so worked up and the only thing she REALLY needs is a HUGE hug from Mama or Dada and a deep breath. It works almost every time.
Now that summer is coming to an end, I hope that ya'll have had some time to relax. School, fall sports and holidays will soon be consuming us all. I hope you continue to find a way to sneak in some relaxation each day. I am certainly going to try. If I find a trick, I will be sure to share. For now, I am going to enjoy the rest of our vacation. I'm going to soak in all the R & R I can. Have a relaxing, peace filled week ya'll. I love this quote, I need to read it every morning.

My idea of pure relaxation...I will never get tired of looking at the ocean
