Say what?

As parents I think we all have moments when we cannot believe something came out of our child's mouth.  Our sweet little girls or boys!  (insert sarcasm)  Seriously, though I know my husband and I work hard on trying to teach our children manners including using polite words.  It is a battle sometimes because we are biting our lips to keep from laughing while knowing we have to teach them the proper way to behave.

Yesterday when we were on our way home from our vacation we stopped at Cracker Barrel to use the bathroom.  This could be a whole other blog but our 7 year old is very peculiar about her public restrooms.  I think she gets it from me!?!  Anyway, we were in line (My 7 year old and I).  Why is the line for the ladies room always ten times longer?  So, we are waiting and there is approximatley 7-8 young girls in front of us.  They were on a girl scout trip.  Well, this young girl comes out and in a VERY LOUD and deep southern accent she yells, "Ya'll Shelby is in there taking a dump."  Now, I have to be honest I chuckled because it sounded so darn funny with this little girl's strong accent.  Then, I started thinking my goodness if that was my daugter who made the announcement I would have been highly embarrassed and upset with her as well.

Maybe, I am being uptight but I don't want my daughters using "bathroom talk."  This has become an issue with them lately.  I'm sure it is just a stage but they seem obsessed with bodily functions and how funny it is when it happens.  I'm hoping it is a passing phase :-)

Ahh...well we are officially on the countdown to the end of summer.  I went school supply shopping today.  It always amazes me how many different pencils there are and how I can never seem to find the right brand.  I am currently on the hunt for Ticonderoga brand pencils.  I don't remember having to shop for my own supplies when I was in Elementary school.  I remember picking a book bag, lunch box and some new outfits and we were done.  At least the uniform policy makes clothes shopping a bit easier!!!

I didn't have time to research a Fabulous Friday Find this week.  I apologize, but I 'm happy to say instead I had a wonderful family vacation.  Wishing ya'll a great weekend!

I think your girls are just in a phase. When the boys were going through finding things. I would explain what it was and always tried to let them know that everyone does the same thing so it really is not anything new for anybody. As long as I didn't give them attention about it they dropped it and we moved on. Of course boys are different. "they say". ;) Hope you had a great weekend! GIGI

Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally.
