We spent most of the day at the pool keeping the kids cool and hydrated. They are becoming great little swimmers. They would stay in the water all day long.
My seven year old and I snuck out for a bit this morning to run some errands. While in the car she asked if she could listen to Katy Perry on my tablet. I said yes, but wanted to hear the song she was listening to. It ended up being fine and I felt like it was okay for her to hear. I felt so old though, she was singing along and might I add she knew all the words. I don't think I know one song Katy Perry sings. Then Marianna starts telling me how she loves Katy Perry and wants to go see her movie. Yeah, I don't think so. Honestly, I don't know anything about the movie, but why does my 7 year old have to see it? I suggested maybe going to see Brave instead. We'll see.
Speaking of music, last night we had a family outing to one of our favorite frozen yogurt shops. We frequent it a lot!!! Well, apparently Friday nights from 7-11pm they have yogurt happy hour. Okay, no biggie. Well, we noticed when we walked in the music was very loud. It didn't really bother me until one song came on. It is a song and singer I like but the song has one sentence that is VERY inappropriate especially for a family setting. I could not believe my ears when I heard it wasn't the bleeped out version. There were probably 15-20 kids under the age of 10 in the shop. As a parent, I was not happy at all. I am going to contact the manager because we really do enjoy going there but we do not want our children hearing that kind of language. All I kept thinking was my 2 year old is gping to say this and I will flip my lid.
I hope ya'll have a fantastic Saturday! Stay cool and hydrated :-)
